Festivals and Markets
Manitoba is known for its numerous summer festivals and inviting Farmer's Markets. This summer, try to visit at least a few of these great events...
Farmer's Markets take place in most communities from late spring till early fall. Winkler's growers gather weekly at the Southland Mall parking lot on Tuesdays from 4-7pm. Morden's market is Thursday afternoons and the Carman Farmer's Market takes place Fridays.
In June, Thousand Oaks Ministries hosts their Gospel Music Camp. It's free, in the Winkler Parkland and features three days of traditional and old-time gospel music.
July 1, Winkler's Canada Day celebration has FREE admission and is held downtown on the corner of Main Street and Mountain Avenue. There's food, entertainment, a petting zoo and children's carnival.
The second weekend in August, the Harvest Festival and Exhibition is a free family event that features entertainment, petting zoo, fireworks, pancake breakfast, rodeos, and much more...all FREE. Wonder Shows, plus numerous food and beverage vendors are also on site. Check the festival website starting in spring to find out who the main entertainers will be.
The Corn and Apple Festival in Morden is a free event famous for giving away corn and apple cider.
Other festivals in the area include the Sunflower Festival in Altona, the Honey, Garlic and Maple Syrup Festival in Manitou, the Roland Pumpkin Fair, the Plum Coulee Plum Fest, plus the Carman Country Fair.
CultureFest, a celebration of the different countries and cultures that now reside in Winkler. The event happens September 6 in Bethel Heritage Park and will feature food, entertainment and games.
